Ohio Search Team To Depart For Haiti

DAYTON, Ohio — Officials at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said Ohio's Task Force One was expected to be flown to Haiti on Saturday.

Two U.S. Air Force C-17s were expected to arrive at the base late Saturday morning and transport the task force and its equipment to Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital city, according to a news release issued by the base.

The 80-member search and rescue team was deployed earlier this week, but air traffic control problems in Haiti caused setbacks.

Ohio Task Force one is composed of volunteer members from throughout Ohio and Kentucky.

Firefighters from central Ohio are included in the deployment.

I'm not surprised there are delays landing material and personnel.
