the satellite picture may even have been taken at the same time of day. Check the shadows.

it pretty much looks like air pictures from WWII after heavy bomb raids.

Only this devastation looks even more complete. Unbelievable.

9. Good pictures. It does appear that a lot of the smaller structures survived

While the large office buildings, churches, etc were hit pretty hard, what look like smaller, one-story buildings seem to be much more intact. In some cases, you can see collapsed roofs or masonry spilled away from the walls, but in others there is no sign of damage from the photo. Of course there may be structural damage that makes them unsafe, but it seems likely that people got out of many of them without injury.

I'd like to see similar pictures for the hillside slums and for the port facilities, especially for the tank farms. Haiti has no energy resources and imports all its petroleum products.

10. Not sure, the resolution isn't that good.

But yes, the larger structures are often first to fall. I'm sure they will be newer satellite pictures available soon that show the main damage.

16. looking at smaller structures from above, it's hard to tell...

especially if they collapsed pretty much straight down.

18. Yes, then you'd still make out

what would look like an intact roof, even the building under it collapsed. Hard to tell with the resolution available. You can't see cracks in the streets, etc. either.
