Leading anti-gay hate group making phone calls for Scott Brown in Mass.

The National Organization for Marriage, one of the most aggressively anti-gay groups in the country, is apparently making calls to Massachusetts on behalf of GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown.

Joe Sudbay reporting:

You can tell a lot about a candidate by the quality of their supporters. And, it looks like the National Organization for Marriage is working hard for Scott Brown. The group is making calls to Massachusetts voters on behalf of Brown. Just got this email, forwarded from a good friend in Boston:

Our household just got an automated call from the "National Organization for Marriage," with a 202 area code. The auto call features a male voice, which is clearly a recording, asking if you support marriage as being only between a man and a woman. If you say "yes," then the voice urges you to vote for Scott Brown as the only candidate with a proven record of supporting marriage as between a man and a woman. The call says that his opponent is a "radical" supporter of same-sex marriage who has opposed letting the people decide and has used taxpayer dollars to support the agenda of same-sex marriage. The call ends by asking if "we can count on you to vote for Scott Brown." The quality of the recording is mediocre at best.

Scott Brown has the haters on his side. As John reported the other day, two hate groups have also endorsed Brown.

1. Ugh. What sucks is that conservative phone banking is much more effective than ours.

You'll have social conservatives calling about gays or abortion and the no-tax groups calling the base at the same time and getting out votes.
