Let Us Focus For The People And The Planet
Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 05:52 PM by omega minimo
With a broken system and fractured illusions of our place in it;
with a bankrupt warmongering economy and hijacked health industry;
Worried that legislators will do what we know they will: serving corporations as persons while abandoning citizens.
Our American issues, memories of Katrina NOLA's abandonment
and proximity to piles of brown bodies being burned and bulldozed are too close, too close.
Time to acknowledge our common humanity, common history, to build a future in common.
This is a global wake up call.

Let's take a moment to breathe.

To focus, consider, realize, admit, meditate, hope, pray, dream, cry, love, support, connect
with our common humanity; with those in charge of our lives, liberty and pursuit of happiness in this country;
with those in Haiti suffering and those from around the globe arriving and helping them;
with bright spots of miraculous survival.

"Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth that around every circle another can be drawn; that there is no end in nature, but every end is a beginning, and under every deep a lower deep opens." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"He's gonna focus."
"All free of us?"

8. Thank you all very much and for the invocation of Martin, bless you
So much change, turmoil, dis-illusionment in recent months. We've all been through it, in our individual stories.

One thing that occurred for me was a resurgence of Buddhist friends/meditation/teachings/contacts.

I do not despair. I know that we each make a difference in our individual lives. We CAN help the suffering, even at a distance.

It is up to us to recognize the mass departure of souls -- in natural disasters every winter, esp. in impoverished areas -- as a wake up call for US.

This year the U.S./global corporate government has become so undeniable that even on DU, most people don't even try to deny it any more. In hearing about Haiti, we learn (from responsible sources) the history of our government's and corporations' involvement in creating Haiti's destitution.

We are one planet and one people. Let the leaders follow the new humanitarian movement.
