Pregnant nurse saved unharmed after 4 days beneath the rubble!

OMG, I just saw this on MSNBC, and I'm still crying.

"A 43-year-old pregnant nurse buried under the rubble of a former children's hospital in Port-au-Prince has been rescued.

Soldiers and firefighters spent nearly three hours trying to dig her out after people heard her screams.

She had spent nearly 70 hours under the collapsed building."

Both she and her unborn baby are just fine, according to MSNBC! What a truly miraculous recovery.

4. Good to hear some are still being rescued
CNN showed rescue workers from CA looking for a 10 year old girl thought to be trapped in a building. These stories of people surviving after a few days are amazing.

6. actually, what gives me hope... is that people HAVE been rescued after 7 days

without food and water, against all expectations.

i'll try to find links.

(But sadly, yes, typically the window is about 72 hours.)

11. People can, and will survive longer than 72 hours
Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 09:08 PM by TornadoTN
It's happened many times, most recently after the earthquake in China. A woman was rescued after 7 days being trapped beneath rubble.

The sad reality is that many perish within the first 24-72 hours due to the severity of the injuries, some are even made worse after the rescue due to their nature and lack of proper medical care. But it's definitely not uncommon for survivors to be found outside of that window and I hope that's the case here.
