2. The resources needed for a SecState tour could be better used elsewhere.
VIP visits are a massive distraction even during the best of times, something Haiti doesn't need right now. Hillary, get out of the way, come back home and let relief workers do their job instead of having to jump through hoops just because you want to poke around, have some photo ops and get your picture in the paper. We get it - you care. Now get the fuck out of the way.

This is the same shit that happened when Bush felt it necessary to go to New Orleans. Everything has to be put on hold or slowed up when the VIP is downwind of you. Bush wanted to show he cared and get his picture in the paper, too. The people in Haiti don't need this shit - they need actual help, not photo ops for our cabinet members.

Let not DLC Billary put back together that which her
dear DLC hubbie viciously tore asunder back in 1994,
for that twould be unfaithful and firm
grounds for divorce,
firmer even than a stained blue dress.

Worry about your own sex life. Even in a time of crisis some of you can't put aside your hatred.

Unbelievable........

7. I don't see it as the same thing
Despite the ruin Haiti is in right now, they have a President, and if the US, the UN, and all the other countries, will in essence be running it for awhile, he deserves a face to face meeting with our top diplomat.

10. Haters gotta hate right? I doubt if there would be any pleasing you.
Some other hater was screaming a couple days ago that if Obama didn't get down there RIGHT NOW he was no better than Bush.

Whatever.

14. Right. You know everything, and if someone doesn't agree with YOU, they're a "hater."
It doesn't matter that I wasn't attacking Hillary as a person, I was merely voicing my disapproval of photo ops in zones of devastation - but according to you, that means I'm a "hater." Actually, the only person in (or mentioned in) this thread I'm even close to hating is you.

Answer if you want, but you'll be on ignore before you even see this. Life's too short to deal with people whose default setting is stupid, sweeping characterizations of people who haven't been indoctrinated into your Church of the Only Truth.

23. mmm. Now *that's* rich. Smooth and creamy even.
You post - like you fucking know anything - about the circumstances/conditions/logistics/diplomacy surrounding the S.o.S.'s visit - which YOU DON'T. . . .

and then accuse *me* of "knowing everything."

Yeah. You're not THAT obvious, are you.

15. President Preval asked her to come.
Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 10:43 PM by Beacool
She took supplies and remained at the airport to avoid using resources that were needed elsewhere. She also was returning with some 50 Americans who were caught in the earthquake.

CNN reported that she had spoken with some world leaders and they wanted a first hand account of what was happening on the ground. Besides, she probably met with some of the embassy people to give them moral support. Nothing wrong with any of that.

;-)

Why are you on a Democratic discussion board if you hate the Democrats so much? Your loathing for Hillary Clinton is telling and doesn't belong here.

30. Another ridiculous assumption.
Not every person who criticizes a Democrat hates Democrats. Further, I've seen plenty of Democrats on this board who aren't Hillary fans and supported Obama instead of her (lots of people didn't appreciate her voting for Bush's war, but I'm sure you approve of everything she does). Should they leave the board, too, just because their posts might offend your delicate sensibilities?

If you have a problem with what I or others post, become an admin or expect to be ignored. It's people like you who make me extremely thankful that the DU admins (you know, the people whose opinions on what should be posted actually count, unlike yours) gave us the ignore option.

Nice knowing you, and grab a box of Kleenex on your way out just in case someone else offends you.

requested her presence. I don't see her posing for photographs. I don't see her playing the guitar or kicking back with the victims for PR fun.

31. Playing guitar, no.
Posing for photographs? You bet. She never misses an chance at a photo op.

If the Haitain president requested her presence, fine, but I'd be a lot happier if she just met him rather than taking the whole tour.

Boy, you certainly don't know the woman of which you speak so ill!!!

She's a policy wonk who would much rather sit back in sweats and dorky glasses studying her briefs. Getting dressed up, putting make up on and posing for pics has always been a drag for her.

The things one reads on this board.......

26. She was asked
and she went but nevertheless any celeb coming is disruptive and I am stating this coming from having a sis who does this for a living. So both party's opinion in this case is correct. If you are waiting for water you may have one opinion on it and if you are trying to coordinate future support for your country you might have another.

32. Learn to read a post before making a fool of yourself.
If she was just meeting with him, I wouldn't have a problem with it. My objection was to photo ops and the whole tour, which interfere with rescue efforts. You would have picked up on this had you ever developed the reading skills required to get a GED.

8. Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC now reporting that Hillary brought
tons of supplies in the plane, water and MREs.

In addition, her staff had gone to local CVS stores in DC and purchased thousands of dollars worth of toiletries and supplies to donate.

She is now on her way home with 50 Americans.

hmm, I've got my doubts though... a capital R or D in parentheses is the standard way they show party. Yeesh.

Oh well, on the bright side -- anyone who didn't know she's a (D) is so stupid that they'd have no influence on anyone anyway!
