I have seen no one cheering on Brown(R) on DU
Edited on Sun Jan-17-10 03:47 PM by quinnox
I'm getting tired of the talking point that some Duers are wanting Brown to win and Coakley to lose. No, its not that at all. I have seen unanimous support from those on the left side at DU, and they have been posting elegant and thoughtful posts, saying that its imperative that Democrats get out and vote for Coakley. No one wants a right wing republican to win.

The thing is, some Duers are saying that if this does happen {God forbid}, then perhaps Obama and the Democratic party need to take a second look at what they have been doing and maybe, just maybe, alter their course a bit. It will be a time for reflection. That is all. It's not that Duers want this to happen, its if it does happen then we need to look at the mistakes and misjudgments the Democrats may have made that caused this to happen.

Notice what the OP didn't say: that no one is advocating sitting the election out.

6. ROFL

The very carefully phrased so-called "analysis" of why Coakley should will probably lose barely cover the frenzied hope that she will, definitely. Who do these clowns think they're fooling?

It is a relatively small number, several is indeed like it, not a "movement" or chorus. No, the "movement" and chorus" are the people who try to control the message and dialog.

It's not hard to find. Granted several have been (rightly) locked or deleted, I saw them - perhaps you didn't or recced them quietly?

14. No, your emotionlism is causing you to read things that are not there
If you step a bit back you will see that sentiment has been expressed by only a very few voices, but the reaction to it is divisive and tries to paint all discussion that is not politically correct as an "enemy action.

Like many others here, we are getting tired of the party purists who keep trying to label every feeling or nuanced discussion as the "enemy" of the "good".

Much of the purist propaganda that goes on here would fit better in Putin's Russia. His party walks lockstep.

10. "Some" have to start fights on DU, or it isn't worth their getting up in the morning.
Unfortunately, its those talking points you mention that is actually a form of censorship and is causing a poverty of spirit on DU.

15. I have seen no one say that DUers are cheering on Brown.
no one. I have seen DUers claim that its Obama's fault that the race is close. I have seen Duers claim that say it would serve dems right. I have seen DUers say that Coakley is a conservadem which she is not. I have seen DUers say it doesn't matter if Brown wins because the 60 dems in the Senate are useless when it comes to passing progressive legislation.

21. Yes
but what I have seen is the overwhelming majority of Duers, and even those on the far left, saying the right things and wanting Coakley to win.

There will always be a tiny few who will say those things like you demonstrated but on the whole Duers have been saying the right things IMHO.

It would be a horror if Brown wins and I really don't think that will happen. However I hope whether or not Coakley wins, we all stop and look at what is happening on "our" side.
