3. honestly be careful what you wish for...
i look at it this way

if you have no insurance the NHS is better than what you have
If you have insurance then that is better than the NHS

5. I'd honestly take decent insurance for everybody over great insurance that works for a few. n/t

6. Note that it's just as possible for Brits as Americans to get private insurance if that happens to
be what they choose and can afford.

The difference is that here the entire system does not depend on it!

4. Our broken system of private insurers serves one useful purpose.
It stands as a warning of what will happen in the countries w/ the single-payer (or mostly single-payer) programs if they are tempted to privatize their healthcare financing. Since the British Labour Party has become mostly DLC-ized, w/o our example they might have already begun to unravel the NHS.
