Where is Jimmy Carter during the Hait earthquake disaster?
Perhaps I missed it, but I have not heard or read one item on Jimmy Carter's reaction or activities regarding the disaster in Haiti.

It seems strange that he wouldn't be out in the forefront in helping or encouraging others to help.

If you have a link or reference could you please direct me to it. Thanks.

1. Carter's Habitat for Humanity website
http://www.habitat.org/

Habitat is addressing shelter solutions for low-income families affected by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010. Habitat’s ability to respond effectively to this disaster will require support from donors, corporate partners and other community organizations. To lend support, please donate today.

5. Thanks for the link
So I guess other than through his organization, he has not made a public statement or has been interviewed for his assessment on the horrific situation in Haiti.

9. Why do you even need to ask?
It's Jimmy Carter. If you know anything about him you know he's made a statement.

35. Of course he has, as others have linked to.
He just didn't make his statement at Obama's side. I don't know if he wasn't invited to appear with the other former presidents alongside BO, or if he chose not to, but he doesn't need them to speak out or act; he does just fine on his own.

2. Statement From The Carter Center

Statement From The Carter Center on Earthquake in Haiti

Jan. 17, 2010

President and Mrs. Carter and the staff of The Carter Center are saddened at the devastation and loss of life in Haiti. The Carter Center is not an emergency relief organization and has no method to directly work on the ground or accept donations for aid to Haiti. We encourage everyone who is concerned to contribute to relief organizations working there and to join us in our prayers for the survivors of this great tragedy.

23. The Carter Center answer you posted seems to have gone unnoticed...
even though it was the 2nd reply to the OP.

Kick, so that the ones complaining about Boosh and Clinton can re-read why Carter isn't involved.

4. Catholic Relief Services is a mega organization in many countries
http://crs.org/

and from wikipedia:

Disaster responses
2004 Indian Ocean earthquake

As part of the massive, worldwide humanitarian response to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, Catholic Relief Services donated $190 million dollars to fund a five-year relief and reconstruction effort to help 600,000 victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.
2010 Haiti earthquake

As of January 13, 2009, Catholic Relief Services has made an initial commitment of $5 million to relief efforts for victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. On Friday, January 15, 2010, the Holy See entrusted the coordination of the large Catholic initial response to the earthquake to the agency.<4>

I urge people to donate to Haiti despite the fact that an Haiti-hating war criminal has been stupidly named co-chair of the fundraising campaign.

28. Well, I guess you better castigate Canada for helping as well...
as we were hand in hand with the US in ousting Aristide n 2004. I don't give a CRAP who helps as long as they help and I am DAMN sure the Haitians don't give a damn either but carry on with your list of who is "approved" to help.

If Bush can raise enough money to save the life of one person that would be fine with me.

Why do you call him out? Perhaps he's not feeling well. He's quite old, you know. But you're calling him out. I wonder why that would be...

11. He Works After The Cameras Are Turned Off...
As someone else pointed, Habitat's real job will begin once the situation is stabilized. They're sure to be on the ground helping to rebuilt homes, businesses and lives. The real measure is not what's being done now, but for the long term and I suspect we'll hear from President Carter when the time is right.

38. 64 vs. 86: That's why
Clinton is 20 years younger than Carter and probably much easier for Clinton to do the traveling needed to make this happen. Probably the same reason Jr. was picked over his dad too. And they bring one in from each party to show unity.

I'm sure Jimmy is involved but at his age it's probably harder to do. But I am sure his organizations are helping where they can.
