Re the parents and family members of thoes Lynn University

students and staff. I understand their pain and suffering particularly since some of them were given false hope by the University, but do they have a clue how many people are involved in search and rescue at the Montana and do they have an idea of the level of destruction in Port-au-Prince and other parts of Haiti.
Listening to the most vocal father, Gengel, you'd think the Federal government sent those kids to Haiti. He's not concerned about the people in tents, just his kid under the cement. He says Anderson Cooper must get to the Montana - it's hard to like this man but I understand his pain.

Its easy for me to care about the suffering of all Haitians as I as not desperately hoping my child is pulled out before its too late. I agree with you I'm not sure he is a great spokesperson - but I can't say that I would be any better under the circumstances. I would probably be more passive and understanding but and I might regret that if I found others by being more vocal saved their child and my understanding led to my child's death.

2. I feel very badly for them...

However, I get the impression that they want everyone to drop everything and specifically look for their family members...and for Pres. Obama to specially order the search for them. I feel for them but in a situation like this you can't give preferential treatment to any specific person or group. The hotel is huge from what I understand. It is difficult to find people. Search teams are working hard but it is a challenge. I hope they find these people but there are so many other people too.

3. It's his child- I completely understand his pain

He isn't thinking- he is reacting. He is desperate to save his child. Hopefully none of us will ever be in his shoes.

5. This is why I have a problem with having people on camera

during what has to be the most heart wrenching time of a person's life. I saw the family members interviewed on CNN this morning and, though I understand that this is news, I just felt that being on national television at this time is too intrusive, for the people being interviewed and for us.

It's just an unfortunate fact that the 4 missing young people were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and were probably killed instantly.:(

The "visitor" places probably had a disproportionate rescue presence anyway, because they were built a little better, and the rescuers knew that there might be "pockets" here and there, so they focused on those places..
