Get the tiny violins out! Poor Norm Coleman won't be running for Gov.
Bitter recount, loss to former 'SNL' comic Al Franken sours ex-Minn. senator to governor's bid

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman says it's too soon to jump back into politics after his bruising loss to former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Al Franken.

Coleman put rumors to rest late Sunday in announcing he would not run for governor. The Republican says on his Facebook page that a campaign would come too late to run properly and too early after his Senate loss.

The 60-year-old Coleman didn't immediately return a phone message Sunday.

Coleman has kept a low profile since conceding to Franken in June, after a bitter election that was so close it took eight months of recounting and litigation to settle.

The former St. Paul mayor ran for governor in 1998, but was defeated by former professional wrestler Jesse Ventura.

2. Awww...poor guy.
I don't remember who said it, but a comedian summed up Coleman's public career after the recent MN Senate race like this: Coleman lost to a professional wrestler, he barely beat a dead man, and he essentially tied a stand-up comedian.

Enjoy the rest of your life as a private citizen, Norm! :hi:

4. It's important to keep in mind that repugs are the political undead

Case in point: Richard Nixon. He was considered so much flotsam after losing to John F. Kennedy, but was sitting in the Oval Office a scant eight years hence. As with 'real' zombies, their political careers are very hard to kill. They may feign death for awhile, but they've got an amazing capacity to return from the dead. On a related note, I see that Rick Sanctimonium is considering a run for prez. Zombie candidates indeed.
