I just got a call to vote for Scott Brown

I politely thanked him for calling, and told him I'll be voting for Coakley. fingers are crossed for tomorrow...

1. If I lived in MA, this is what I would do when called

If called by Coakley, I would quickly tell them I would be voting for Coakley and let them move on to the next person.

If called by Brown I would tell them I was undecided and needed more information. I would let them go on then start asking questions that would be tilted towards Brown's favor in the answers I know I would receive. Over all, I would try to keep them on the line as long as possible.

Maybe even get all Socratic, and lead the caller down a path of questions to where they start wondering if they're working for the right candidate. "Yes, I see where Mr. Brown's policies would lead to a greater concentration of wealth in fewer hands. Now, how exactly does that translate into better services, more jobs and greater prosperity for more people?"

...this guy was volunteering his time (he said he was a volunteer) to get out the vote for his candidate. That's a healthy thing for a democracy, and I'm not about to piss all over them for it.

4. If you keep a live caller on the phone that's the same as (briefly) phone-banking yourself

Wasting the caller's time consumes time he could use calling someone else.

So you can volunteer for Coakley for 5-10 minutes just by asking inane questions.

6. Brown has a lot of people calling for him from out of state.

I was on one blog last night and people from PA and Texas said they were calling Mass. to make calls for him.
If I was from Mass. this would make me angry. This is a local election-not a national one. These people should not be so involved in the outcome.
I hope everyone of them are smacked down when Coakley wins tomorrow.
