2. wouldnt it be better to change the policies/practices that put them in the soup lines?
how many in the soup kitchen are there because their job was outsourced?
how many are in poor health and have no insurance?
how many are bankrupt and have lost everything to predator lenders?

19. It's called "leading by example."
Of COURSE it would be better, but the two are not mutually exclusive.

28. Get Geithner out of office instead of photo opts....

If he wasn't actively working as a front man for the pro-corporate agenda, these pics would be inspiring.

But, with the corporate insurance bailout and the bank bailouts and the never ending policy initiatives that work against the people whom are being broken by the corporations, these pics seem hollow and empty.

43. I'd like to see photos of Geithner, Summers and Bernanke
serving food directly to the poor -- and the report had better correctly state that they served food for at least eight hours. Maybe while those three are at it, they could also clean up the kitchen and the communal bathrooms because those are as much a part of feeding the poor as is the handing out of cooked food on plates.

I'm serious. Geithner, Summers and Bernanke should earn their keep for a change. And they should set an example for the CEOs that have to fly in their own jets and live on huge estates or behind the gates of their high-priced communities.

It is wonderful that the Obamas are spending their holiday in this way. But where are the other members of the cabinet? Especially Obama's financial advisors, all of them?

35. I agree
However one nagging detail. POTUS is wearing sanitary gloves to serve up the food......but then shaking hands with people destroys the sanitary factor!
He needs catering 101!

16. That really is remarkable.
For the President of the United States to do charity work - that's something out of the ordinary. To fake it while on campaign, sure, but for a member of the ruling class to come down and even be seen with those that have nothing is nothing short of extraordinary. Consider me impressed.

people will be able to sit down at their computers together and realize how fortunate we are to live in a country where our President cares enough to feed the homeless and not give them a fake turkey.

Thank you for the lovely pictures.

but here's a kick.

He's the real deal. Amazes me when I see people here--here! of all places!--spewing remarks that he's blind to people's suffering.

I see him as working ceaselessly in spite of being mired in an edifice of corporate scum=repukes=conservatives.
