Progressives- A must read from Arianna~Time for Hope 2.0
Arianna Huffington`s latest article, Time for Hope 2.0, is a thought provoking read. She suggests changing Washington from the outside and elevating empathy`s role in our society. A rock solid piece, well worth your time.

1. elevating empathy? Americans have been propagandized that the "self" shouldn't have it
And we're just a nation of separate "selves!"

so I look for Birther shit on FreeRepublic to get a laugh.

The shit Huff Post has flung for the past couple of months is no laughing matter.

Same with LiardogFake.

9. So you can't see that whatever happens,
it ain't gonna get more progressive if we end up with a loss,
right?

You see nothing, but what you want to see.

But yeah...you taught us all a lesson!
You are gonna get the same damn thing
we are all gonna get...jack shit.

10. Things have gone quite neyond tone deafness
it's to the point of refusing to listen at all.

When leadership doesn't listen to its constituencies and others who take notice of the political dynamics- it ends up learning a lesson. Most folks issuing these sorts of warnings take no pleasure in "being right" -nor do they "want" the consequences of either the poor public policy OR the inevitable political fallout.

3. That site is so bad with all the pop-up shit, it almost freezes my computer...
while the pop-up blocker nearly burns itself out. I don't click on any links there anymore, not worth the trouble.

"Hope" Has Been a Bust, It's Time for Hope 2.0

On the eve of the first anniversary of President Obama's inauguration, it's become painfully obvious that elected officials are not going to save us. The 2008 election was all about "Hope." But Hope is simply not cutting it.

What we need is Hope 2.0: the realization that our system is too broken to be fixed by politicians, however well intentioned -- that change is going to have to come from outside Washington.

This realization is especially resonant as we celebrate Dr. King, whose life and work demonstrate the vital importance of social movements in bringing about change. Indeed, King showed that no real change can be accomplished without a movement demanding it.

As Frederick Douglass put it: "Power never concedes anything without a demand; it never has and it never will." (cont.)
