Tonight I am the richest man in the world.
My son, now 15 going on 25 is on the couch with his black labrador, Flubie, playing snuggle monster with him
as they watch the "The Simpsons' movie" on t.v.. We have some Mexican food on the stove and some ice cream for
later ..... tomorrow is another day but as of now I am the richest man in the world.

best to all of you,
Botany

22. moments to remember
I've been going to bed at night this week grateful beyond words for knowing that I'll be safe all night in my warm bed and that there are hot and cold running water taps in the next room. Clean water. If I'm sick in the night paramedics will come and minister to me -- they are just two blocks away in a fully stocked firehouse. We are blessed more than we deserve to be sometimes.

58. Pretty much the same here.
Thinking, "Wow. When I turn on my faucets, water comes out--as much water as I want. There's even water in my toilet to flush away the stuff I don't want in my house. I can turn the heat on or off. I can get in a warm bed and sleep and know no one will disturb me or try to hurt me. And there's this amazing box in my kitchen that has food in it that I want to keep cold so I can eat it later, and tomorrow morning I can go get food out of that and my cupboards and eat it.

"Yeah, I would sure like a job, so I don't ever have to worry about losing this. But right now, I feel pretty rich."

43. That is just a wonderful thought:)
made me smile, and I know exactly what you mean.

In the evening, when me and dh and our two older dogs are snuggled up on the couch, watching some tv with our bowls of ice cream, I look around at us and think for now, we are still here together, and that this very ordinary evening is a gift beyond measure.

Don't know why, but I've been having these thoughts a lot lately. I let the things going on that aren't so good right now on our horizon just slide away as I comfort myself with the happiness of the present, of this small moment in time when things are briefly all good.

Take care.

56. I just posted on my blog the other day, in light of the dire straits of so many Haitians,
that I live like a queen. I have a clean, dry, safe, warm home all to myself (800 sf). I know where the next week's worth of meals are coming from (have all the ingredients). I have a closet and drawers full of clothes, and a large, soft, cozy bed. The two kitties are icing on the cake.

57. I took my black lab fishing this morning....
....and now he is destroying everything with his "power wagging" tail. I wish I could harness the energy in that tail. He peed about ten times, took a couple of dumps, sniffed out every bush. He wanted to get in the water, but since he's a house dog, he wasn't permitted this time. He's the only dog I have ever had that knows to ask permission to do things. I swear I know what he wants every time he gives me "the look".

Happy dog, happy man. All is well!

I know what you mean...he and I are "best friends."

We watch classic movies and "Rockford Files" episodes, then engage in echolalia! Sometimes we're both laughing so hard we have tears in our eyes!

He does great impersonations of James Cagney, Edward G. Robinson, Walter Mathau, Chet Baker (the jazzer), George Loros ("Tony Boy" from Rockford), Anthony Zerbe ("Jack Skowron" from Rockford), and Stuart Margolin ("Angel" from Rockford). He has me laughing hysterically!

I know what you mean...
