I am not asking who you want to win.
I am asking who do you see winning based upon what you are seeing.

No question in my mind.

12. Sure.

Several reasons. First, because I think that when push comes to shove -- as it surely will tomorrow -- a lot of democrats are going to go to the polls, and vote for the democratic candidate. That candidate may not be someone they all have a great deal of faith in, but they aren't going to let a republican contaminate the seat that Teddu held.

Second, I think that the respect for Senator Kennedy is a large factor. Though I'm not from Boston, or MA, I've spent time there. And much of it was with my father, who used to love politics. We used to ask tons of people there what they thought of Ted Kennedy? And while many said they did not think he should ever be/have been president, almost all expressed a great respect, even awe, for his abilities as a US Senator. I think that his influence will be stronger than the media wants to hint at.

Third, I think that many people resent the media attempts to influence the outcome of this election. And it's not just the obvious slime from Fox. I find the "reporting" offensive, and am confident that I am far from the only one.

While I am fully confident of a democratic victory, I do not mean to imply that I think the democratic candidate has run a good campaign. I do think that issues, including the need for the party leadership to show some respect for the grass roots liberal and progressive community activists, deserve a great deal of post-election attention.

If Coakley wins, then 'centrists are the only way'. If Coakley loses, then 'the left cannot be counted on and should be ignored'.

15. Brown - makes me sick to say it

Coakley ran a simply horrid campaign. She seemed to snub important groups of voters and it looked like she thought she could coast to the seat. Then with a hail mary from Obama and Clinton visits when they really needed to handle the Haiti tragedy showed her desperation. Never a good to be that evident that you, yourself think you are going to lose.

Brown's got the looks, the fresh face and can tap into discontent with people fooled as to his true agenda and values.

I really hope I am wrong, but fear the worst with nasty repercussions in the year(s) ahead.

26. Being realistic

Trends point to a decisive defeat for Coakley. If the weather is bad I won't be surprised to see her lose by 10+ points.

The wishful thinking here reminds me of the NJ governor's race. A candidate that does not poll better than 45% + MOE in a two-way race is very unlikely to win out.

29. I can't believe I am saying this but I now believe Brown will

win and possibly by a comfortable margin. People are angry and Brown is a good campaigner and an attractive candidate as long as you don't listen to what he says. Unfortunately when people are angry they don't listen much. The media has also been a factor. A tea bagger winning Teddy's seat is a big story. Obama going down in flames is even a bigger one. I feel terrible with such a prediction. I pray I am wrong.

I live in NH and drove down thru Chelmsford, Dunstable, and a few other MA towns
The Brown signs outnumbered the Coakly signs by at least 10-1
