INCH DIAMETER SIZE HAIL AND DESTRUCTIVE STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.

WHEN A TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED BASED ON DOPPLER RADAR...IT MEANS
THAT STRONG ROTATION HAS BEEN DETECTED IN THE STORM. A TORNADO MAY
ALREADY BE ON THE GROUND...OR IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP SHORTLY. IF YOU
ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS DANGEROUS STORM...MOVE INDOORS AND TO THE
LOWEST LEVEL OF THE BUILDING. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. IF DRIVING...DO
NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER A HIGHWAY OVERPASS.

THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A

2. Not common, but it does happen.

When I lived there (a long time ago), this would happen when a big tropical storm came through. They aren't used to it down there, but it is not the end of the world.

The currents go the wrong way (away from L.A.) for tropical storms and the water is cold not warm - L.A. is like the anti-Miami as far as conditions favorable for a hurricane.

Every year or so a couple of tropical storms venture that far North, and produce heavy rains, mudslides, etc.

It is not a frequent occurrence, but they do venture that far north on occasion. San Diego has an even higher risk.

Baja California gets hit by full-on hurricanes every few years, so southern California gets nailed by the remnants of those. I don't ever remember a proper hurricane making it all the way up to San Diego, but I lived through tropical storms.

Nothing compared to Midwest standards, but still a tornado.

23. Florida tornadoes are usually 1's or 2's we rarely hit a 3.

When I lived in TN they were bigger and out in the midwest they are truly monsters.

In FL we really have to worry mostly about hurricanes and the embedded tornadoes they bring or the occasional spring tornado.
