1. Mass just lost braggin rights when it comes to
voting against Nixon. They voted against that hustler, but support hustler Brown.

2. MA is possibly the single worst state to have this happen in.
MAers already have healthcare, and probably better than what the national bill is trying to do. Thus they don't particularly give a crap about the healthcare portion of it.

Add in long periods of relatively one-party rule, as well as a current national independent streak that leans heavily teabagger and a crap Dem candidate, and this is what you get.

8. Just enough of them, yes.
MA has some pockets of absolute crazy. They are well outvoted by the city of Boston, but when not enough Bostonites turn out, and just enough crazy turns out, well, you get Scott Brown.

11. I hear you. "States" don't vote and they're not isolated from media culture.
As a far leftist living in Texas, I can tell you that for sure...

6. I already said that last week.
It's not really helpful though. Republicans and rightwing media types are going to predict a landslide in November. The healthcare bill does not seem very popular either, but failure probably is not gonna sell well either. The public will probably blame us for even trying, just like they did in 1994. Failure is not rewarded. In fact, the bill already looks like a failure just because it is taking so long. Justice delayed is justice denied.
