Why would Coakley go on a week long vacation after dropping 10 points in the polls?
I learned tonight that at the beginning of December, Coakley was up 20 points in the polls. Just over two weeks later, she's down 10 points in the polls and what is she doing? Going on vacation instead of campaigning. Brown even called her on this during the campaign and used it as a point of "liberal arrogance" to presume she had won already. There was no response on this from the Coakley campaign.

Did she think she was going for President of the Bridge Club?

4. Maybe she thought she didn't need to campaign.
Maybe she took for granted it would be an automatic win; no way Democrats would vote a Republican in to replace Teddy.

Well guess what Martha! x(

5. Maybe the WH wanted Brown to win. That way they can blame no HCR on not having
a filibuster-proof Senate.

I have to say, there's a dark part of my psyche that's going to find the post-mortem on this
campaign really interesting. I think it's the same part of me that is ready to listen to anything Levi Johnston has to say. And no, I'm not proud of that part of myself. But it's there.

10. Makes me think of Ned Lamont's Senate campaign. Except
he apparently went on vacation after winning the primary, and never resurfaced until Election Day.

11. Maybe she was channeling Michael Dukakis.
All sarcasm aside they both took to much for granted somthing one should never do in politics.

Brown spent more time campaigning. People, independants especially, like it when your at least willing to talk to tham.

are arresting and prosecuting people for recording police activities on cell phones. She evidently supports this type of fascism, thought she deserved to win with no effort because she was a "liberal" and female, and was the darling of the Democratic Party in Mass.

The stupidity is just amazing, and I doubt anyone who "matters" will learn anything from it.

20. Completely incompetent.
Either she chose to go on vacation as her polls were going in the toilet - complete clusterfuck...

Or national party leaders, in a desperate attempt to unfuck this clusterfuck, told her to go on vacation so she wouldn't get caught on TV saying something stupid, again, in which case it was such a monumental clusterfuck it couldn't be fixed.

In any case, she completely botched it.

Who makes so many mistakes and is so absence during an election? Not even many veteran incumbents would behave like this.
