Now that the campaign is over he's going to face the impossible task of juggling the wishes of his state and his party. The independents in Massachusetts think he's fairly moderate and the tea-baggers think he's their next great hope. The second he has to start casting votes in the Senate he's going to quickly find out that he can't be all things to all people.

8. Most GOP Senators represent red states or at least swing states

Snowe and Collins represent a fairly blue state but Republicans can keep that state pretty close in good years. Scott Brown is now the lone Republican Senator who represents a really and truly blue state. If he wants to be a Senator for more than three years (and believe me he does), he's going to be tempted to cross the aisle quite a bit. I'd hardly be surprised if we hear calls from the tea-baggers to primary him.

Lincoln Chafee actually did buck the party line quite frequently and perhaps he would still be a Senator if he had bucked it more often. If Scott Brown wants to be a Senator for more than two years (and I think he does), he is going to have to take seriously the notion that Republicans are a vast minority of his constituency.

In 2012, Vicki Kennedy will run for the seat... and win in a landslide.

10. I doubt Vicki will run. But I agree that Brown won't be re-elected, or even be competitive in the

2012 campaign. Massachusetts voters didn't know what they were getting.....just that the guy they voted for didn't take a Caribbean vacation during the campaign season.
