256/434 (1 vacancy) = 59%
59(caucus)/100 = 59%
Fuck it - let's kick out Lieberman - 58% is still plenty.
Smarmy-asses on the right think they're in control? Let's kick their asses.

... because the Senate Democrats have thus far been too wimpy to do what they should: end the tyranny of the minority filibuster rule.
It is just flat undemocratic to let the current version of the filibuster mean that any and all votes can be killed by 41 of 100 Senators.
Senate Democrats should use the 'nuclear option' and end the filibuster once and for and bring majority rule democracy to the U.S. Senate!

5. Who's more conservative - Lieberman or Snowe? |
|
Besides, we really need to either 1) change the Senate rules or 2) split the bill into a) the 'regulations' portion, which we can pass with 60+ votes easily and b) the funding mechanism portion in reconciliation. We might even be able to get a better bill this way.

6. Split the bill. Pass regulations easily, do funding issue (PO, exchanges) in reconciliation |

The good news is that we still have a majority. The bad news is that if we repeat this Coakley crap in November, we won't have it any longer.
Question remains: Will the Democratic leadership figure this out and go back to their core principles?
