1. Okay, fine.
If Webb thinks that is the fair, democratic thing to do, then fine.

BUT, then the fair and democratic thing is for a MAJORITY of Senators to win the vote on any and all legislation, right?

The Senate Democrats should use the 'nuclear option' and end the tyranny of the minority filibuster rule once and for all.

It is way past time to restore majority rule democracy to the United States Senate.

Right, Sen. Webb?

2. Gotta be Carefull
Remember we will be out of majority again some day (maybe by 2011 if we don't get our act together). Then the 60 votes will be all we have to stop the repubs.

3. But that's democracy.
The reason why Coakley and the Democrats have been getting killed in the polls is because they are too risk averse ... always plotting political strategy, just like thinking that maybe someday we'll need the filibuster ourselves again.

Instead, they need to fight the good fight and let democracy win -- Brown didn't win tonight because he got 60 percent of the vote, he got a majority.

It should be the same way in the Senate. And then the voters will judge the results. That's democracy, that's the American way.

4. Did you encourage the repubs to do it when they discussed it?

11. Let's face it.
The reason why Coakley got knocked off is because she didn't bother to campaign once she won the primary. She thought she could coast right into that Senate seat without having to bother shaking hands and kissing babies and asking people for their votes.

She was wrong.

16. Democrats don't use the filibuster anyway.
Might as well ditch it.

7. The 'filibuster' is not in the Constitution.
If that is what you mean. It is just a rule of the Senate.

10. I understood it to be HIS opinion.
Not how it's going to be.

For what it's worth, it sounds like Barney Frank agrees?

Something smells fishy.

Do you suppose they figure they'll let this guy get there and kill the bill, and then blame it on him? Do you think that's the strategy?

17. But Barney Frank
is in the House, and he's saying pretty much the same thing.

He's a very smart man. Something's up.
