The Mass. Senate race would be a repudiation of liberal policies IF...
...Obama were a liberal but he's not. Seems to me that the folks with experience under Romney-care, a system similar to that the Obama admin is pushing hard, could be perceived as rejecting that. The big problem with that projection is that the corporate-friendly Massachusetts plan is a product from the other side of the aisle, from the man to whom the GOP is going to pin their national hopes in 2012.

Slowly but surely some folks are waking up to the negligible differences in the politicians, to the fact that both sides of the aisle are screwing the citizenry as fast as they can because bribery is legal now.

13. Yes, and they do so at their peril.
The longer it takes them to figure this out, the bloodier it's going to get for them.

and is afraid they'll lose what they have with the federal plan.

17. Yeah, to pay for lazy people
I read that on a board somewhere. They'll pass the insurance tax on to consumers, just like they'll pass the bank tax on to consumers. That's why they're against both of them.

And you are too, right?

It appears Mass made the right decision, according to some around here.

So these swing Brown voters - you agree that they should oppose the bank tax too, if all taxes on big corporations just get passed on to the consumer. That's probably another reason Coakley lost, she supported that big bank tax.

18. They like their plan
They're afraid a federal plan will cost more and cover less. They're not objecting to subsidizing the private insurance system.

Obama is a big liberal. Unfortunately he is not the leader we thought he was. Can't even get our own party on board. Darn

5. To some extent that's the problem.
It's a repudiation (again, to some extent) of his policies. The problem is that SOME of the voters were upset that they were too far left, and the others were upset that they were too far right.

And because of a lack of reliable exit polling, we'll likely never know how many were on each side.

And people thought that Social Security was the 3rd rail of politics.

9. I really think those who would say he is too far left are listening to right wing spin
I think they wouldn't know a left wing policy if it knocked 'em over the head. How would they? When was the last time we saw any really liberal legislation in this country? I mean unambiguous, life changing, liberal policy?

14. It doesn't have to be unambiguously liberal
it just needs to be to the left of where they want to go.
