**************SHE LITERALLY WENT ON VACATION!!!***********
Jus sayin, might be a couple of folk like me who think people are bein figurative with they say she "went on vacation"....they're not....Coakley went on vacation during a special election while her opponent, backed by astroturf funding went to pounding ground.

I will no doubt knock on a few more doors come this November, hubris is our enemy...

7. I've heard (from people who worked on the ground) that the guy she beat in the primary,
Capuano, was a much better candidate but she was the machine favorite.

10. So if she was the favorite of the Mass Democrat machine, she must be a progressive candidate?

11. Having good positions on issues does not equal being a good candidate.

15. Ah, that is often how it works. And you have to wonder if the
Insider Centrists Dems that set this all up have some interior motive. Screw us voters - it is usuallly about their careers!

Diane Feinstein put a halt to Steve Westly's political career, who the voters in Calif. preferred to Angelides. And so Schwartzenegger came on board as the governor, and now Di has a chance to run for that office that she so clearly reserved for herself.

As much as people want to blame Tim Kaine, Rahm Emanuel (huh? he's the freaking WH Chief of Staff), or even, get this, Tim Geithner ... it was the Democrats in Massachusetts who went (or failed to go) to the polls during the primary for this race who picked her. Pure and simple. If you want to blame anyone, blame the MA Democratic Party.

Now I don't want to get too rough on Martha. She's a good person who would have made a good senator. But she was not the right candidate. And it is very bad form for her to be blaming others for what she should suck it up and own up to.

2. Let this be a lesson
to all who get complacent.

Politics is a participation sport. If you don't participate and put yourself into it 100%, you lose.

4. She also switched her position on the biggest issue right after winning the primary.
She allowed Brown to define her instead of working to define him.
