as a former MA resident. those are towns (municipalities), not counties.

3. I've been trying to explain that all day

But how can you explain to anyone the strange and wacky ins and outs of the politics of a state that calls itself a commonwealth and doesn't even have any county governments--just a bunch of little fiefdoms with a lot of people yelling at Town Meeting about the hours the library should stay open.
