The booking of the political rivals comes after some CU regents raised concerns about whether paid campus speakers are diverse in their ideologies. But the student leaders who booked Dean and Rove say their choice in speakers this year is a reflection of their group's own values.
The debate over current events will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at CU's Macky Auditorium in Boulder. CU Chancellor Phil DiStefano will moderate the debate, which is sponsored by CU's student-run Distinguished Speakers Board.
Juliet Kroll, head of the board, said it's the group's first event with two speakers. The student-funded group is excited to bring campus speakers who will provide insight from both sides of the political spectrum and encourage a debate, she said.
