Prediction: The Brown win is going to be anticlimactic

Stunning upset in a special Senate election in PA, after John Heinz died in a helicopter crash. A game-changer. Completely changed the political landscape, especially on HCR. Name was everywhere -- even considered as a VP for Clinton.

Brown polishes the chair, but offers little beyond that. This should be a wake-up call to the Democratic party people who apparently have not been listening to what we have been telling them. But who knows, maybe they still won't and blow the 2010 election as well.

Trying to work with the GOP has been a complete waste of time. The message is clear.

To both Houses of Congress: If you can't or won't do your job, we will elect buffoons to replace you.

Here on the opposite coast, I wasn't paying all that close attention. If he's as "bad" as has been described here, that "setback" may be a blessing in disguise next year. Obama acted wisely by being "gracious". Any attemt at "payback for Al Franken" would have been a very costly error!

20. THe New Democrats have an agenda and it isn't pretty. Replacing the public schools with charter

schools and discouraging teachers unions. Taxing health Insurance benefits achieved by collective bargaining and dissing unions, voting for the egregious Stupak amendment, supporting Bush era violations of the Constitution, escalating troops in Afghanistan, cutting a deal with Big Pharma against drug re importation( ask Sen. Wyden about that one), ignoring GLBT issues, and publicly dissing their base as a loony left fringe for daring to question. Yeah, they have an agenda and they had better redefine it and go back to the party platform and quickly!

21. It Already Is...

The Senate is seniority heavy...he'll be in the back bench of the minority party. Good chance we won't hear much from him, similar to how Senator Franken (damn I love typing that) has kept a low profile. Now Al moves up a knotch! Brown will be yet another rushpublican knee-jerk vote but I sense he knows he's living on borrowed time...he'll be back in front of the voters in 2 years and won't have the luxuary of getting too wingnutty. He has a big target on him and watch him try to move to the center the closer we get to 2012.

I also see good things...a wake-up call throughout the entire party that no election can or should be taken for granted. The damage is minimal in comparison to the circular firing squads within the party. A little tension is a good thing...I'm not a fan of complacency. It also will shine a light on how dysfunctional the Senate is and the importance of protecting the Liberals and Progressives up for re-election, primarying the blue dogs (Lincoln) and fighting to win the open seats (most currently held by GOOPers). The real loser yesterday was Joementum as he no longer gets to play turd in the punchbowl. The pressure is on Reid...the clock is ticking. It's long overdue to kick Joe's sorry ass out of the caucus, strip his chairmanship and let him become the rushpublican he already is. And if Reid can't do the job, that's another target to focus on.

More empty promises? I have about had it...Kentucky said it best, I want a Divorce from the Republican Decade just past. I want criminals to be indicted for their activity. I want accountability. Is that too much to ask? I guess it is. When someone Promises Change, I expect them to actually attempt to make that happen. Not carry on with the exact same policies and even expand upon them. I want Democrats to stand up against torture with every fiber of their being, and when Cheney goes on TV to say Democrats are soft because they don't torture people I want Democrats in every single state at every single level to condemn him for his words..I want strength, not weakness. I want the American people to be the beneficiaries of their own efforts by having our tax money invested back into America and not go into Huge Banker's Bonuses or the "War machine". I guess I should just shit in one hand and wish in the other and see just which one gets filled first...Democrats have been a huge disappointment to me this past year. I hope they understand that...I do not want them to act like Republicans. Is that too much to ask?
