Would you like to help write President Obama's SOTU speech next week?
What would you advise him to say?

Would you call for bi-partisanship? Would you demand it?

Would you appeal to patriotic duties?

Would you ask that we all share the burden?

Would you take a more populist approach to appeal to the masses?

What would you advise the President to say to the American people?

3. If I wrote it and he read it verbatim it would say
Ladies and Gentlemen, I'll be blunt. The United States of America has less than fifty years of life left to it, and it was my failure that has led us to that state.

6. Don't they all say these things?
They're just throw-away lines that don't mean anything more than "pass my agenda!"

9. Every state of the union speech I've seen...
...regardless of party, champions bipartisanship and unity and patriotism and all that other claptrap, but they're just pretty words to give the illusion of working together. In reality, the party in power wants to ram its agenda through and the party out of power does everything it can to stop it.

We will:

Expand Medicare.
Repeal the Reagan tax cuts.
Withdraw from Iraqistan, et al.
Fight for EFCA.
Etc.

I refuse to let myself go down in history as a joke who was played by the neo-cons for a fool.

11. With that kind of message..
They would have won Massachusetts. Because it fires up the voters. They have to have some reason to vote.
