Ted Kennedy - America's Patron Saint of Second Chances

As some of you may know, I write under the user name "Punditty" for the citizen journalism site allvoices.com.

On the eve of the vote in Massachusetts, I published a report that excerpted some of Ted Kennedy's writings in the posthumously published memoir "True Compass."

Although I was neutral in my presentation of the excerpts, my report brought some very emotional responses from the Right. Supporters of Ted Kennedy were accused of "tunnel vision," and Kennedy himself was, shall we say, "dissed" in a no-holds-barred kind of way.

I began thinking about some of the emotionally charged attacks on Kennedy over the years, and that led to another column.

If you've ever given much thought to Ted Kennedy's political career, I think you will find it interesting. Please read, K&R, twitter and facebook-post to your hearts' desires. I think the message therein is something the Democrats would do well to remember and the Republicans would do well to acknowledge.
