Was HCR an issue in MA election?

I don't know much about so-called Romney-care. Would people in MA see Obama's Health Insurance plan as a gain, or a loss, personally? Or was it a non-issue?

I hate to see the Republicans win a 41-seat majority in the Senate, but now I don't have to write a letter asking Prez Obama to veto his own HCR bill.

1. Probably The Biggest Tangible Issue, Thinks This Mass Resident

Two-thirds of Americans are against the health care bill - I don't see how Democrats win many elections with two-thirds of Americans upset.

(Note that two-thirds are *for* it if it includes the public option.)

More generally, the bill fed into people's perceptions that the Democrats have not been a change for the better.

2. I live in Mass. and although those online polls you choose to answer

show HCR as an issue, I don't think it was the number 1 issue. We have mandated health care here and the only concerns with the national plan is how it would affect the Mass plan. I think the economy always is the 31 issue in any election and with unemployment very high and the future uncertain, I don't care who's in charge, incumbents get hurt.

Scott Brown voted for mandated health care in this state with a Republican governor but doesn't support a national plan. Go figure.

I am with Howard Dean on this... Dems are not TOUGH ENOUGH, Obama was elected to LEAD, but all he is doing is trying to keep the elite happy while compromising away any real benefits to the people.

I don't think I am in the minority with this opinion.

4. No. Coakley failed to even try to nationalize this election until it was too late.

This was not a referendum on HCR or Obama. Had the Coakley campaign made it so she would have won. She ran like she was running for AG again.

5. Indirectly

HCR in it's current form polled 48/40 against in MA. Or more favorable than the national avg. But it also was listed as fourth priority. With the Economy being concidered far above the rest. So some of the sentiment is in response to fiddling with healthcare while the economy burns.

And don't forget there is a near perfect storm against and establishment dem in mA right now. Governor unpopular, Legislature (85% Dem unpopular) possible backlash from special rules created to fill this seat, etc.
