"The left have nowhere else to go."
I think that yesterday's special Senate race proved otherwise.

The Left went shopping.
The Left went out to dinner.
The Left went to the movies.
The Left went home.
In fact, the Left went everywhere except the polls.

Maybe someone will actually get the message, although I doubt it. The liberals and progressives are tired of having to choose between the evil of two lessers, like happened in Massachusetts. They're done giving moderate and conservative Democrats a free pass because the Powers that Be say that they have nowhere else to go. Being offered a choice for the Last Liberal's dearly departed seat between a Republican and an unexciting Democrat talking pretty much like a Republican, they chose to sit out the fight.

The Republicans, on the other hand, were fired up and excited and turned out in record numbers for their side. If the Democrats had given their base a candidate they can get excited about, then they would have turned out in similar numbers, too. They didn't, so the base didn't.

So the next time someone makes the argument that the Left have nowhere else to go, tell that to Senator Martha Coakley.

2. Where they might go is frightening
On the right you have the tea parties, able to swing a lot more influence then the wacky core would lead you to believe.

The left does not have its 'Tea Party' yet, but I am sure something like that may pop up soon. I think the Mass. vote results are an early sign of such a thing.

Lets hope that some movement that is truly dangerous does not come from this. When people are disgusted with government some scary people have often managed to achieve power. The right screams about the extreme left and vice versa, but the reality is there are wackos always waiting in the wings to grab power and twist it.

3. Nope, the Left went to the polls by the turnout.
The center went right.

Plain and simple.

The center went right.

6. Untrue
Turnout was better than anticipated, but was clearly much lower in liberal areas than the rest of the state.

They didn't die, and they didn't move right... they just didn't show up.
