I plan on getting hardnosed. I plan on spreading the truth
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 09:12 AM by mmonk
about American foreign policy. I plan on spreading the truth about Reaganomics and the collapse of our domestic economy. I plan on taking on the rightwing infrastructure of lies and hatred in this country. And yes, I intend on taking on the DLC. I'm going to fight and I'm going to fight hard. Many people who I know in my life may end up hating me. But I don't care. It's about self preservation and a decent life for my children. I'll be announcing projects I am starting soon. I'm not going to sit around and let all this grabage continue without fighting with every fiber in my body.

Thanks for listening.

party platforms and attend party functions and conventions like I normally do because that isn't working so far except winning elections we seem to blow when opportunity presents itself. When I decide my moves, I'll let people know what they are here.

9. It means finding or starting an outside pressure group
to hold the politician's feet to the fire.

Good luck finding your answers.

23. here's an idea: boycotting sponsors of news programs that don't fact check
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 10:17 AM by cap
let's keep our progressive dollars at home

If we hold people's feet to the fire, then the Palin-Brown types will be deflated real quickly.

5. Stay Determined...
The problem is so many are short-sighted...abeted by a corporate media that gladly allows rushpublicans to revise history without ever being questioned. The problem I'm seeing is people are frustrated and begining to turn off on the political system altogether. I hear more about Tiger and his babes and Conan vs. Leno than about healthcare or Iraq/Afghanistan (who??).

My concern is so many are channeling their frustrations against the DLC as if its some monster...or massive conspiracy while losing focus on who really screwed up this country...rushpublicans. The way to beat them, if that's such an obsession, is at the ballot box...to work for Progressive and Liberal candidates...raise money, work the phones, drive the people to the polls.

The real problem is that voters come second...money reigns supreme. It's gotten so expensive to run a campaign that one all but has to pander to the high rollers...corporates and sugar daddies. It's felt without the money, a candidate won't make it to the general or will be vastly overspent by an opponent. The machines can be beat, but it takes a lot of elbow grease...and hopefully this is a wake-up call that there are big primaries up ahead and how important each and every race will be...nothing can be taken for granted or the big money will swoop in.

Cheers...

6. Taking on certain media is going to be one of my first projects.
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 08:45 AM by mmonk
I plan on begin acting on it today. I will make an annoucement here soon. And I will most likely ask for help from like minded people that want to go further than being precinct officers or state delegates. It's time to get down and dirty like our opponents.

7. Keep Me Posted...
I do think there's a big need for more Progressive and Liberals on the local level...especially this year. This election will determine who divies up the Congressional districts in 2012...thus there needs to be a strong effort on the state level to create the conditions where more Progressives and Liberals can run and win. It'd be nice to see GOOPers have to primary each other to hold onto their seats rather than Democrats.

Also, if you want to take on the media, then it's time to push Julius Grenchowski and the FCC to revisit Telcom '96...break up the corporate domination of the public airwaves that allows them to play gatekeeper...mostly favoring the GOOP. It's working toward building up alternative media and working toward more media diversity and localization. Empowerment is a powerful tool...and no need to get down and dirty when the truth is on your side.

Best of luck...

Cheers...

22. how about a boycott of the advertisers
for any news that isn't fact checked.
The American people deserve the truth. They deserve factually based pro's and con's of any issue.

15. I've done this fight for decades
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 09:04 AM by lunatica
My suggestion is that you get over being angry when you deliver your message for two reasons.

If you rant your message will be lost because people will think you're another fringe nut and they'll dismiss you

You'll find more people can take facts like the ones you plan to impart in small doses. Trying to teach history lessons is very hard because people really don't want to know the ugly side of their country.

Even your closest friends and your family will think you're too caught up in a cause.

One last suggestion. Try to have some fun in your life so people know you're not a nut.

21. I mean like normal people who aren't political junkies like us
The media does an excellent job of covering up the ugly truth with shiny sparkling propaganda. Most people I know don't even realize how much crap is flung at them every single day from TVs, radio and billboards. They fight the manipulations when they perceive them but mostly they don't realize how profoundly evident they are in our lifestyles, our thinking and our actions.

They're not stupid, but their attention is elsewhere. To them politics is some vague thing that happens after elections.
