Cut up health care bill & get sections of it passed
Instead of one big huge 2000 page bill, Congress should divide it up and get chunks of it passed; e.g. the Expanded Medicare Bill, the Right to be Covered Bill, the anti-Monopoly Bill, the Public Option Bill, the Drug Re-importation Bill, etc.

I'm a teacher and know for a fact that students (and adults are the same) cannot absorb too much new information all at once. In the case of this Health Care Bill (what's left of it), changes and compromises on a weekly basis keep the public confused. This is one reason the tea=party crowd (even those on Medicare) don't get what it's about.

A Health Care Act cut up into parts would accomplish a few things: 1) without one big clusterfuck bill, the public would be able to understand each part better as each smaller bill is reported on; 2) with a better educated public the people would be able to give more intelligent input to their Congressmen; 3) each part has a better chance of passing and a better chance of even getting a few repukes on board.

1. 4) Obstructionist Republicans would have to face voters in the fall for blocking popular measures.
You're right, this massive monstrosity just makes a good target.

4. keep reintroducing single payer /public option until it passes.
President Obama needs to step up, as well. he needs to change course and make it clear he'll veto anything without a strong public option.

this wishy washy shit is obviously not winning him any points. govern like a progressive and stick to your principles.
