1. He can't - he has to reach out to Snowe AND Collins to get ANYTHING passed
Telling them to go fuck themselves means he will be a Do-Nothing President.

Which is excatly what the RW wants.

21. That's what happens when you try straddling the fence -
you get it from BOTH sides.

Brown would NEVER have been elected if democrats had been united on liberal principles, rather than selling out to the republicans. All that did was show the independents that the Dems can't get anything done.

Obama believes in One America, not a Democratic or Republican America. He will worship at the alter of bipartisanship even as he is escorted out of the WH by the new Republican president in 2013.

5. Telling them to go fuck themselves is what the American people want.
If they want to be obstructionist, it'll blow back in their faces. The Republicans are getting what they want already.

9. And then after the next election it will be Snowe and Collins and McCain
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 01:26 PM by jgraz
And then Snowe and Collins and McCain and Grassley.

And then...

(Which, btw, is *really* what the right wing -- of both parties -- wants)

11. Snowe is up for election in 2012 - Maine folks are watching her very closely
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 01:30 PM by jpak
if she doesn't work with Obama, Maine Dems - who are the ones that reelect her - will make her reeelection doubtful.

and she already has a teabagger problem - I hope they run a Libertarian agaisnt her...

rock meet hard place

(note Maine isn't Mass. - we cut ourselves loose of that shit back in 1819)

.......before they write him off completely.

Talk is cheap, he needs to be the President they thought they were voting for.

7. He is committed to governing across the aisle, to the point of giving away anything our
side may want.

Is there anyone here who thinks he will change his approach one iota?

13. ...otherwise he'll leave office a disgraced DINO.
Oh wait, didn't Bill Clinton spend the greater part of his times in office fighting with a Republican Congress?

Just like George W. Bush won the presidency albeit with an asterisk explaining some election discrepancies, Obama is a liberal with an asterisk explaining a lot of right-wing accommodations.

18. Insanity is doing the same thing but expecting different results. Using the same people who

repeatedly hand you failure is pretty insane, too.

Barack, perhaps now is a good time to re-evaluate your staff and
the shitty advice they've been giving you to act like a Moderate.

on occasion. He tells us to fall in and shut up.

Obama started to run with the GOP from the beginning, right after we elected him as a Democrat. He is a master politician, and as someone pointed out elsewhere, he can sell snow to eskimos.

He certainly seems to have sold a lot of it to us.
One of the few things I still like about Obama is that he is making the Clinton years look better to me.

"Bipartisanship" is about the thinnest excuse for pushing corporate policy I've ever heard.
