Some Facts
The Obama Administration can't let HCR die, it would slaughter the Democrats.

The House won't pass anything weaker than the current Senate Bill (they wouldn't pass it as is anyway).

Major Pain-In-The-Ass Lieberman has been neutralized.

Unstoppable Force meets Immovable Object.

Something will give. I don't think it will be the House, not when Admins have gotten many things through with far less than a supermajority.

And as a preview... the sources in the Obama Administration told MSNBC this morning that a left turn is going to be the response to the election.

1. I hope a left turn is the response we see from the Obama Administration.
Obama must have the progressives on his side, or he's lost it all. He's spent a year trying to be bipartisan, and it's gotten him nowhere. He needs to hand the Republicans their toys and send them home if they can't play nice. They've had their chance.

Now it's time to kick sand in their faces, and get the job done. People will squawk for a while, but once they see improvements in their lives, all will be forgiven.

2. Call me a cynic, but I expect this "left turn" will be symbolic, and more

a response to the *coming elections* than this past one. That is to say, built around wedge-issues and destined to die after the elections.

If Obama replaces his key DLC advisors and takes on banking regulation, I'll be impressed. If he just fiddles around on some social issues and leaves the current Goldman/DLC team in place, I'm going to assume it's more bullshit marketing from the Hope© brand.

3. A left turn is badly needed
And ending the filibuster rule would go a long way towards doing what needs to be done.
