"Corporate America has corrupted both major parties and all three branches of government"
says Attorney Charlotte Dennett, in the preface to her book, The People Vs. Bush.

Dennet will appear along with Vincent Bugliosi, and Naomi Wolf, tomorrow the 21st.
They will be speaking at at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.
The talk is entitled “Above the Law: VIPs and Accountability” and will attempt to shed light on the difficulties inherent in trying to prosecute crimes by high-ranking officials and the mega-rich, as well as the importance of adhering to the principle that no one is above the law. Bonus: the 92nd Street Y is offering complimentary tickets to law students.

1. Please! The Congress was only too ready to be "corrupted".
The lobbyists don't call on the Senators, the congressional staffers call the lobbyists for "guidance" writing bills and legislation, and for that all important cash, both for campaign chests as well as "walking around money".

Our politicians have been pigs at the trough for a century. The term "lobbyist" came from people who met congressmembers in the lobby of the Willard Hotel
(http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/travel/wash/dc36.htm)

to influence their votes for "support".
There is nothing new about any of this, only the amount of money has increased, and the fact that we can watch it all on TV.

I am nowhere near NY, but thought people in the area would want to know about this.

3. Pitting one against the other
This is where I believe the corporations are pitting Republicans against Democrats using the voices of Limbaugh, Beck (Fox) and The Tea Parties, etc. They are raking in the dough via this strategy and it works. While we're pitted against each other they are raping the country. I had my first taste of this back when Pacific Lumber/Maxxam led by Charles Hurwitz attacked Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney and the FBI tried to blow them up. while Earth First, and their supporters were pitted against the loggers and logging truck drivers, the timber companies rapped the forests causing future hardships to the timber workers and eventually filled for bankruptcy.

Corporations own this country and politicians do their bidding, we all know that.

4. You can't "pit one against the other"
When they are all on the same team.

The whole two party show is just to appease the
masses and perpetuate the illusion of a two party system.
