Its well worth the read... its live so check back - they just admitted into evidence emails that show LDS volunteers in every zip code in CA and the fact the campaign was 100% run by LDS Priesthood holders.

1. I've been glued to Twitter.

Wow, what a day in the trial. The prop 8 proponents are objecting to every piece of evidence being introduced to show religious involvement.

edit: here's another good Twitter link to follow http://twitter.com/KateKendell I've been finding great folks in the #prop8 hashtag

4. I love the letter that says the LDS Church has to hide its involvement by taking a low key approach
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 06:19 PM by FreeState
Why would they need to do that? I mean they do believe their own doctrine that GLBT people are sinful right? Why hide the fact you've been one of the #1 people fighting gay sin for the last 30 years?

8. You have a better perspective than me,
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 09:19 PM by Starry Messenger
but my thought on that: the Mormon Church has been trying to position itself as a business friendly mainstream Protestant religion for a couple of decades. I think they've tried to cultivate a brand as a home-grown family friendly uniquely American faith but not outre' like some of the religions more notorious for being anti-gay. In short, image control. I'm curious what your thoughts are FreeState.

2. In my hometown (Anaheim Hills, CA)
The streets were littered with so much pro-Prop (h)8 campaign signs that the city was forced to pass a referendum that limited the number of signs that could be posted at any street corner. The fundie freaks around here still piss me off about their behavior toward Prop (h)8, it was pretty sickening actually.

3. I lived in a nest of these Mormies
Before Prop22, I used to think Mormons were nice people with a slightly batty religion. Now, and confirmed with Prop8, I consider Mormies to be the greatest enemies of gays and lesbians in this country. They are a sick organization run by sick people, infested with nasty mindless drones.

5. I was raised Mormon
and I will tell you it would be a terrible mistake for anyone to think they are merely nice old men with a strange religion. They are a well monied, devistatingly effective, organized juggernaut for a variety of social issues and they CAN and DO force laws into being.

As Will Pitt says, "Bank it."
