DEMOCRATS LEARNING WRONG LESSON FROM MASSACHUSETTS?-Even BROWN Voters Want Dems To Be BOLDER
DEMOCRATS LEARNING WRONG LESSON FROM MASSACHUSETTS?
EVEN SCOTT BROWN VOTERS WANT THE PUBLIC OPTION, WANT DEMOCRATS TO BE BOLDER

"In an election between Scott Brown and the public option, the public option would have won."

– Charles Chamberlain, political director of Democracy for America

HEALTH CARE BILL OPPONENTS THINK IT "DOESN'T GO FAR ENOUGH"

* by 3 to 2 among Obama voters who voted for Brown
* by 6 to 1 among Obama voters who stayed home

(18% of Obama supporters who voted supported Brown.)

VOTERS OVERWHELMINGLY SUPPORT THE PUBLIC OPTION

* 82% of Obama voters who voted for Brown
* 86% of Obama voters who stayed home

OBAMA VOTERS WANT DEMOCRATS TO BE BOLDER

* 57% of Brown voters say Obama "not delivering enough" on change he promised
* 49% to 37% among voters who stayed home

PLUS: Obama voters overwhelming want bold economic populism from Democrats in 2010.

2. Putting it in all caps doesn't make it so
I've looked at this poll, commissioned by MoveOn and other progressive groups. Frankly, the questions are entirely leading, and the methodology is not revealed.

I say this as a MoveOn member since 1997 (Clinton impeachment era), who still gets daily emails, and as recently as this fall attended a rally in favor of the public option sponsored by MoveOn.

3. Doesn't make it false either.
Do you think the majority are in favor of the Lieberman/Snow Bill of Mandates without a Public Option?
.
.
.
I don't either.
So why did Obama and the Democrats let Lieberman and Snow dictate the HCR Bill?

"When given the choice between a Republican, and a Democrat who acts like a Republican, the voters will choose the Republican every time." ---Harry Truman

11. I think most polls are designed
this way, with the question tightly framed pointing to a limited choice of responses, and I am not sure what you mean by methodology. I thought that was explained on the right side of the page, but not sure. We all need to learn this stuff so if you have insights please share them, we are listening, no joke.
For myself, I am really happy to see Move On putting it's money to good use with Bold Progressives and DFA, we should be polling, advertising, educating.
Your state may be different, but in mine, there is virtually no polling, no voter outreach, no voter education or retention efforts. Democratic voters are taken for granted because we are a blue state, and yet - we have a whack job Republican for a governor, 30 + years of stalemate due to the 2/3 rule, one of the lowest per pupil spending rates, economy in ruins, all told we are in dismal shape, man it is just pathetic.
The more we learn the smarter we gets.

6. We've been preaching this, but the DLCers and the Blue Dogs
just don't fucking get it.

If Obama had led in the direction he campaigned in, we wouldn't be having this problem.

He chastised Clinton and McCain on mandates. He said after he was elected that the bill had to have a public option. Then, he did nothing to lead in that direction.

He has been quite the milquetoast, and people are pissed that he is not trying to deliver the change they believed in.
