Jerry Brown is now acting governor in California
Meet the new governor of California – Jerry Brown.

At least for a while.

Brown, the state attorney general and an all-but-declared candidate this year for governor, is acting governor because Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Legislature’s top leaders are in Washington, D.C. seeking federal funding for recession-plagued California.

When the governor is out of the state, the lieutenant governor typically assumes the governor’s duties. But California has no lieutenant governor – the last one, John Garamendi, resigned after he won a House seat in the 10th Congressional District.

Schwarzenegger and the legislative leaders are expected to return to California Thursday evening.

hopefully we will get our own Brown victory soon

5. Somebody is going to have to step up...
and fix what Ahh-nold has screwed up as the guv-a-nator.

I was in high school when Jerry Brown was Governor, so I don't remember his administration (plus I was, uh, not exactly paying attention). I understand he was a great mayor of Oakland and has done a solid job as AG.

I hope the good people of California wake up and toss the right wingers out of office and return good government to the largest state in our union.

10. I do too
He can be pretty hard nosed as he proved as Mayor or Oakland, but he isn't in it for his own selfish ends. He leaves the place in better condition than he found it in.

13. Funny thing is Jerry Brown refused to live in the Governor's Mansion
when he was governor. He refused to live rent free on the taxpayer's money.

14. California doesn't have a governors mansion
Pat Brown was the last one to actually live there, Nancy Reagan hated the place (and Sacramento in general) - Jerry Brown didn't move into the new one and after Deukmejian also declined to move into the new mansion it was sold.

16. I'm on the coast of Oregon, about
125 miles North of Crescent city. Last night we had sustained winds of 40 knots with two gusts to 70 (fellow weather nut, I surf).
Four feet of snow is insane!
I 5 is closed south of Ashland due to blizzards.:scared:
