MSM: Just because people *think* the Senate race was about health care doesn't mean it was
USA Today breathlessly reports, "An election-night survey in Massachusetts by pollster Scott Rasmussen found 56% of voters there called health care their top issue."

But they fail to mention that more than half of those health-care-minded voters actually voted for Coakley.

Imagine what our country would be like if even just a few more people stopped substituting vague guesses and opinions for actual data. We don't need *everyone* to do this, but it would be nice to start with influential journalists.

1. The Democrats have not crafted a strong position on health care...
that is simple to put forward and stand behind. Meanwhile, the Republicans and health care industry propagandists have confused people with their "death panels" and "buy health insurance or go to jail" stories. So many of those that voted for Coakley may have been scared of losing their current health care rather than wanting something new. It's just not enough information to really know.

2. They also never poll on the why portion of the health care question. I'd
like to see the poll of people against the Senate health care bill that asks why they are against it...does it go to far or not far enough. The MSM says "Here's a poll that shows X% of the people are against the Senate health care bill" And that's the end of it. I have yet to hear the conversation in the media about why people are against the current health care bill(s). As a matter of fact, I've heard no conversation at all that is any deeper than good/bad.

4. This is true... But
How likely is it that people who thought it didn't go far enough voted for Brown?

For what you want, we don't need exit polls... We need to talk to Democtats who didn't show up.

3. That doesn't mean that it wasn't about healthcare
Abd this is MA after all... It should have broken down WELL beyond "a little more than half"... Moreover, the people who felt strongest on the issue broke the other way (with 78% of his voter strongly opposing while only 52% of her voters strongly supporting).
