2. Many remarkable stories there
and what a great photo!

"And in another extraordinary escape, it emerged yesterday that a man rescued after three days under six storeys of rubble had used his iPhone to look up ways of treating his own injuries while still trapped.

American film maker Dan Woolley, who is in Haiti to make a documentary for a charity, downloaded a first aid application and followed the instructions to make a bandage and tourniquet for his fractured leg. He was also able to stop the bleeding from his head wound and set the alarm to go off every 20 minutes so he would not drift off into unconsciousness."

18. What I find remarkable is his expression of pure joy with no shadow of fear.
I really love the photo.

8. Yes, that's a story in itself.
It is appalling that a girl lost her life over a couple of worthless pictures. :(

11. Wonderful picture & outcome!
An odd coincidence is that my new granddaughter is being born today (my DIL is in labor right now) and the plan has been to call her Kiki. Her real name will be Kiana. I will always remember this Kiki and his will to live!

In a little while I bet you and your family will have looks on your faces just like Kiki's! (It's lovely that her nickname will be Kiki, but Kiana is beautiful too!)

12. and there are many more alive under that rubble if the military
lets rescue teams in to help. Damn after a week it seems like the US military is running the airport, and not letting necessary items and supplies to get in.

16. so so so tragic... imagine being her family and seeing it happen
She was just trying to get some of the few possessions that meant something to them... just trying to be helpful to her family... it's so horrible. Absolutely heartbreaking.
