Have you ever visited a country that is an actual dictatorship? I really doubt it. This supreme court decision is bad, but it is far from the 'final fascist nail'. This kind of hyperbole alienates people who should be more aware of the issue and whose support is needed to fight it, by painting a picture of contemporary society that is just as misleading as corporate propaganda. It's perplexing to me that you choose to adopt the very communication tactics you would object to from corporate sponsors.

But hey, have at it with your cheap sloganeering. go ahead and reduce debate about serious and important issues to soundbites and cliche. You too can be part of the media white noise which turns more and more people away from voting at all, or leaves them voting on the basis of whim an emotion when they do show up at the ballot box.

I am strongly opposed to unlimited spend for corporate political speech, and think the reporting requirements that remain in place are deeply inadequate. It will make it easier for corporations to wage large-scale astroturf campaigns with the intent of changing electoral outcomes, while concealing the true origin of the messages they send to voters. I'm also opposed to slogans and buzzwords as vehicles of communication, no matter which side is putting them out...if I want pre-canned opinions I can use a tape recorder or a ringtone.

It would require a Constitutional Ammendment to overrule a SCOTUS ruling. A "bill" just like the McCain-Feingold would be taken to court and back to the SCOTUS where they'd just restate what they said today. Alas, getting a Constitutional ammendment will be almost impossible as it would require 2/3rds of the House, Senate and then the states. As Sen. Schumer said today...we're screwed. The best hope would be to wait until Kennedy or another of the conservatives leave the court...replace them with a liberal/progressive and try it again.
