Exclusive: Kucinich shreds Democrats for betraying promise of change

By Sahil Kapur

Special interests 'more entrenched than ever'

-- Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) on Wednesday said the Massachusetts election was a "wake up call" for Democrats and that his party had better change course or it could suffer devastating losses come November.

"People elected Democrats in 2008 to change the direction," he told Raw Story in a nearly hour-long interview.

"And the same entrenched interests that George Bush could not shake, this current White House is having great difficulty in shaking. One could suggest they might be more entrenched than ever."

Kucinich staunchly defended liberalism but alleged that Democrats are not behaving like liberals.

And most of all, his refusal to play the game of politics the way that the Usual Suspects do.

That is, flat on their backs for a few quick minutes, (shades drawn) and then asking for that nice Corproate Donation.

People who are Powerful and Immoral hate anyone who has a bit of power who is not.

6. He's so right here:
"We have to be looking at ourselves," he claimed. "We have to be looking at what we need to do to govern... It's really simple: the people don't like what we're doing."

"Democrats have to look at our own responsibilities, not the Republicans' responsibilities," he said. "If we want to give the mantle of leadership to Republicans, they're the minority, they're willing to take it."

http://rawstory.com/2010/01/exclusive-kucinich-shreds-democrats/

Blaming the GOP just gives them a leadership role. The Dems need to take responsibility that's why they were elected. Lead and stop following.

12. Another great example of why DK shd have won the primaries.
I for one am grateful that he ran at least. Maybe some time in the future the US will go for somebody who is principled and will actually do things that are in accord with those principles.

13. He's drawn the same conclusions many of us have, to wit:
The current Democratic officeholders better damned well start representing US...

...or we'll find someone who WILL. And we'll keep trying. And howevermuch Rahm and the DLC might wish us away -- we ain't going.

15. He's always been right, about everything.
But he's way too far ahead of his time for this country. We are so far behind the rest of the world in many ways, still at the primitive, Imperial, Colonial stage.

Have to remember to donate to his campaign. We need one hundred more like him in Congress. I've been making a list of real Democrats in Congress. There are some but not nearly enough. That's where we need to put the focus now. On cleaning out Congress by electing real progressives.

45. Betray is not from Dennis in the article. Republican meme?
At no point does the article use betray except in the title written by the author.

Obama may not change things enough for some people, but that does not means Obama betrays change.

This is leading to one of those Republican "everyone knows that..." memes.
