Death of UFO expert unsolved
PORTSMOUTH, England, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Authorities say the 2009 death of a UFO expert off the coast of Portsmouth, England, remains a mystery.
Police said despite an inquest, it remains unclear whether 44-year-old unidentified flying objects researcher Paul Vigay committed suicide or died accidentally, The (Portsmouth) News reported Wednesday.
Authorities said they did not locate a suicide note from Vigay after the father-of-one's body was found floating in the sea last Feb. 20. Vigay's girlfriend, Andrea Smith, told authorities she had tried to end her relationship with Vigay the night before.
Smith said Vigay, whose research on UFOs earned him international notoriety, departed their Portsmouth home after convincing her to stay.
