Elderly Man, 83, Charged With Beating 99-Year-Old

BOROUGH PARK, N.Y. (WPIX) - An 83-year-old man was arrested and charged after police say he brutally beat a 99-year-old man following a dispute over parking.

According to police, the brawl happened at around 2:10 p.m. Monday outside a doctor's office in Borough Park.

Gersh Gofman, 83, is accused of beating Steve Pulwers, 99, with a metal steering-wheel lock after the older man asked Gofman to move his car.

Pulwers, who lives above a doctor's office, was taking his trash out to the curb when he saw Gofman park his car in front of the building's parking lot. Pulwers told PIX News he simply knocked on Gofman's window in an attempt to get his attention. He said the doctor who practices in the building was trying to get into the parking lot at the time.

"When he came out of his car, he punched me between the eyes and broke my nose," said Pulwers. "Then he threw me on the ground and I told him to get off me."

Pulwers said the 83-year-old man then proceeded to beat him with a metal tool.

The doctor, who was waiting to get into the driveway, witnessed the attack and called police.

1. good grief that guy has anger problems. To think the 99 year old was able to talk about the
incident. Truly, old age isn't for sissies.

2. Brooklyn's a tough town.
If the perpetrator weren't so freakishly old, this wouldn't even make the local news ("Guy gets jumped, and the weather"). But it's hard not to feel a tinge of NY pride.

3. Like a local bartender told me when i was 18. "Getting old doesn't make you cranky......
....most of these people were assholes when they were young too."
