The Longest 20 Seconds of Her Life

...snip...

Rebecca Solomon is 22 and a student at the University of Michigan, and on Jan. 5 she was flying back to school after holiday break. She made sure she arrived at Philadelphia International Airport 90 minutes before takeoff, given the new regulations.

She would be flying into Detroit on Northwest Airlines, the same city and carrier involved in the attempted bombing on Christmas, just 10 days before. She was tense.

What happened to her lasted only 20 seconds, but she says they were the longest 20 seconds of her life.

...snip...

A TSA worker was staring at her. He motioned her toward him.

Then he pulled a small, clear plastic bag from her carry-on - the sort of baggie that a pair of earrings might come in. Inside the bag was fine, white powder.

...snip...

1. Fire that fuckweed
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 05:15 PM by MrCoffee
That is just not funny.

See, I didn't read the update at the very end. They did fire the fuckweed. Good on TSA.

Edited AGAIN!!! "Update: Ann Davis, the TSA spokeswoman, said this afternoon that the worker is no longer employed by the agency as of today. She said privacy laws prevented her from saying if he was fired or left on his own."

I really should get around to learning how to read one of these days.

7. Double lawsuit. One against the police who failed to arrest this Federal Offence also.
This person needs to be in jail not just fired.

5. Just kidding!
Great - TSA is hiring Johnny, the guy from the Airplane! movie who unplugs the runway lights at a crucial moment.

But don't worry, traveling public. If the new scanners are placed, only the most professional, no-nonsense employees will be staffing them. Hot chicks don't have to worry about having to pass through two or three times while a gaggle of TSA personnel cluster around the screen to gawk. And they'll never do an image capture. Your privacy is totally safe! Nobody at TSA would ever approach any aspect of their job with anything but the utmost seriousness.

Mostly.

11. Back in 2004, a local Togo's sandwich franchise worker
Was bragging about how some cousin of his got him a job for TSA doing passenger security screening.

He went from 9 bucks an hour to $ 28 an hour.

Boy was he happy! (HS degree, and it would be his second job in his life.)

6. Jokes at a security check point are a FEDERAL OFFENSE. Why does no one get arrested for this?
This is a charge that carries a mandatory sentence!

9. Because we live in a totalitarian police state where the
"authorities" commit crimes at will while you better stay in line.

That is not mine. I never saw that before. I packed my carry on myself, it has never left my sight and it/that was not in it when I put my stuff on the conveyor to be scanned.

12. Yeah. It's a good thing they don't belong to a Union.
God knows we don't want real professionals involved in the process.
