Not that I believe that Al-Qaeda ever represented a true threat (more of a convenient boogeyman), but the SCOTUS decision today represents a vicious attack on American democracy. We've all known that big corporations have controlled politics for quite some time. Now, however, the Supreme Court has ripped away any pretense of fairness. Now those corporations with the most money will be able to blanket the media with $$$. Elections will be bought and paid for on an unprecedented level. It's no coincidence that the Big Money conservatives on the SCOTUS are the ones who handed us this decision.

2. They did appoint Bush/Cheney in 2000
This conservative SCOTUS seems hell-bent on fucking us all.

3. "At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected?"

"I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide." - Abraham Lincoln

5. G.W.Bush may turn out to be the most influential president in American History.
His legacy may turn this whole country into a seething, fascist, right wing cauldron that will remain in power for the rest of our lives.

(Which may not be that long since environmental issues will all become moot and the world may become uninhabitable in a few short decades.)
