What sex are corporations?
Since the United States Supreme Court has now declared corporations to be individuals, I was just wondering, what sex do they tend to be? How can you tell? What are their mating practices? Social Security numbers? Can an American citizen really be legal without a SSN? If corporations can exist as individuals, why can't dogs and cats have the same rights since they breath and eat? And if breathing and eating isn't a qualifier, why do we lose rights once we die?

I'm so confused.

There's already a thread on this subject.

31. As someone pointed out on another thread,
this depends on what state they "live" in.

If one "lives" in a post office box in the Caymans, and the other "lives" in a post office box in Argentina, and both are gay, and they want to have their wedding and reception at one of our big round stone barns in Iowa (website info provided upon request) . . .

I wonder just what sort of paperwork they have to complete before the ceremony.

The mind boggles.

2. I was thinking the same thing. Isn't my cat a person?
Isn't my telephone. If AT&T is a person, then my telephone should be one too shouldn't it? It's really very, very odd.

They even spawn new corporations.

8. What is a person?
I've thought that same thing too. Dogs ,cats, my mortgage are individuals.
But we all know that this is just to give the rich and powerful more rights and votes than the average real person.

14. It kind of puts to rest that whole thing about robots or cyborgs or
clones. Just incorporate them and they become legal individuals.

9. I think primarily they're male because by far most CEO's are male.
They actually do have a kin to SS #'s... Fed ID's. Mating practices....anyone or anything that will benefit you. Sprry, dogs & cats can't press that button on the Diebold machine, nor do they usually get the chance to sniff the behinds of the politicians. If they did, the dogs & cats would probably make much better decisions that the humans or the corporations!

10. Santa Clara v. Southern Pacific Railroad declared them people in the 1800s
Sort of. It was actually a clerk's error in the notes.

What happeed today was that election reforms were overruled. Not unlike the Missouri Compromise in Dred Scott.

I think this is actually a good thing. The SCOTUS determines law based on the Constitution. When they are obviously off the charts (or the case they are hearing shows that the law is not clear), congress can then amend.

Corporate personhood is at the ROOT of all that is wrong with this country. Perhaps it took this move by SCOTUS to make Congress act on it.

18. I think everybody knows that funny business occurred in the 1800s.
The question was, did this Supreme Court have the intelligence to think through the flaws, and the answer is no. We are in the age of Idiocracy.
