It was underfunded from the start and plagued by mismanagement throughout its life.

Too much office politics, driving away its best on air talent.

Frankly I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did.

Rachel Maddow, Al Franken, Thom Hartmann and Randi Rhodes to name just a few.

Fortunately these voices are still going strong.

4. Yep I listened off & on through the six years AAR was on.

5. There was Progressive radio before AAR as there is now...

I go back to the days of "IEAmerica Network" otherwise known as two juice cans and string.

IMO, AAR died when they fired Mike Malloy. I listened to Al Franken until he left, then dropped out. (I miss you Sam Seder!)

The HBO documentary about AAR was telling about the initial financier.

The guy with the money figured, "hey, talk radio is making a fortune, there is NO liberal talk radio (significant) - I could have the market cornered."

When it looked like it was going to be more work and less cashing in, (after what, TWO MONTHS?) he pulled out. It's a miracle, IMO, it survived after THAT.

I've seen so many business deals fall through, it was so typical.

My only current frustration is how fragmented progressive talk is via the internet. I only wish there was a way to listen to Hartmann AND Malloy withOUT the 17 minutes of commercials an hour for one low price...
