How can private individual donors compete with huge corporations? Democrat or Repug, why bother?

I originally meant to post this as sarcasm, but now I'm not sure it is. Am I just not thinking clearly? Wouldn't the Pols worry about this reaction?

1. Might as well just send a check to the MSM network of your choice
Or spend the money on pitchforks or something of that nature

7. I can't afford any more money. I gave way WAY to much last year and kick myself every day.
I am behind on credit cards and the mortgage because of the money I sent FOOLISHLY to our candidates.

10. Never was. I stopped giving money to these snakes in 1998.
They're all the same: corrupt and manipulative of the populace, getting people whipped up into frenzies over fringe "social issues," while they (members of both parties) and their friends on Wall St. and in corporate America run away with the money.

That's politics. Why anyone puts hope in any politician is beyond me.

Suckers.

12. So who will the politicians of the future represent?
Oil companies? Banks? Health Care industries? Wall Street?

Or maybe China, India or even Israel.....

Nothing new here. We can stop deluding ourselves that we elect these people and save our money.....we'll need it.

13. depends. I have no concerns whatsoever about ANY of my 3 reps
in Congress selling out to corporations. I'll continue to donate to their campaigns- even though all I can afford is a piddling amount.

16. I will support Russ Feingold and Steve Kagen
since Russ is beyond reproach and I know Steve Kagen. Also a few other WI pols. But nothing national, even though my contribution is piddly too.

20. right. and that's how I feel about Bernie, Pat and Peter.
Pat Leahy has been 36 years in the Senate and he's one of the least wealthy members. Bernie, well c'mon, and I know DUers don't know much about Peter Welch, but he's a sterling person and as progressive as they come.

14. really, there's no point in voting at all,
unless the candidate is a 100% stone guaranteed Superman able to leap tall corporations in a single bound.

Russ Feingold is up for re-election to the Senate this year. He takes no corporate money and his average contribution is just over $50. There are fantastically rich Republicans opposing him.

He's a great Senator and he represents DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND.

21. Only as a show of support-
so your favorite candidate can say they have x many supporters/donors. But truthfully, the money would be better spent elsewhere. I give to Innocence Project and a local agency that houses, feeds and clothes the homeless. I hve decided that's a better place for my money than spineless democrats who don't have the cojones to take advantage of their short-lived majority

24. since this law negates our votes as people, isn't this fascist ruling a violation
of MY voting rights as an person, since I can never compete with a corporation in support (or in selecting now) a politician to represent my interests?

A corporation may legally be a person, but surely it can be proved beyond a doubt that it is far more powerful than a real person. One corporation, or an outside country funneling money through a corporation - with it's unlimited contributions - annihilates countless votes of individual actual persons.

sorry not particularly addressing you, just following up on your thought
